The outstanding 2018 Vintage deserves to be celebrated. We laid down a limited number of Magnums for 76 months of lees ageing, and the result is full flavours of freshly baked apple, preserved lemon, and a creamy toasted brioche finish. Its delicate bubbles and refined taste showcase the very best of English sparkling wine.

Plumpton Estate Blanc de Blancs Magnum

Produced from estate-grown grapes, this wine is crafted by Plumpton College’s expert winemakers and viticulturalists, whilst teaching our degree students the skill of oenology. Our alumni now lead innovation and quality across the wine industry, from vineyard to bottle.

Technique

The outstanding 2018 vintage was the ripest and highest-yielding UK harvest to date. Chardonnay was picked at optimal ripeness, with 10.6% natural potential alcohol and excellent acidity, before being bottled unfiltered in a limited number of magnums to retain structure and mouthfeel.

After 76 months of lees ageing, the wine has developed flavours of freshly baked apple, preserved lemon and creamy toasted brioche, with delicate bubbles and a refined finish. The slower ageing offered by the Magnum format allows greater development of autolytic character with less impact from oxygen.

This exceptional vintage was awarded Gold at the CSWWC 2025 and selected for the Vineyard & Winery Show Golden 50 Wines 2025.
